Marlin Hershey has always had a passion for real estate, purchasing his first investment property at the age of 16. Today he serves as a Principal of Performance Holdings. He specializes in the acquisition of shopping centers and other income producing real estate assets, second home lot development, mezzanine or debt financing, and asset-based lending.
A native of Lititz, Pennsylvania, Marlin earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing from Bryant University in 1991 and has also received the coveted “Young Alumni Leadership” award from his alma mater. That same year he launched Hershey Enterprises, building it into a $6,000,000 international sales and marketing powerhouse before making the decision to focus his business interests in real estate.
As a multifaceted entrepreneur, Marlin has been an active participant in multiple business ventures. He was a principal in Environmental Compliance Management (ECM) and Waste Recovery Solutions. ECM has become one of the largest firms of its kind in the non-hazardous environmental field in the Mid-Atlantic United States. Marlin further diversified his business interests by forming the high-end residential construction company Augusta Homes with two business partners. Augusta’s revenues grew to more than $15,000,000 before he sold his interests. Marlin also served as a principal in Carolina Design Group, a leading residential design firm that he helped grow to more than $4,000,000 in revenues before selling his ownership position.
Marlin currently serves on the board of Harvests of Hope International, a service organization that provides greenhouses and vegetable seedlings to families in Africa affected by HIV/AIDS. He also serves on the Council at Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, NC, as well as on the board of Above and Beyond Endowment, which prepares and provides financial support for those wishing to serve in the mission field.
Marlin and his wife Wendy have four children and enjoy living on Lake Norman near Charlotte, NC. In addition to spending time with family, he enjoys boating, hunting, skiing and playing golf.
